The Avocado Zest is delicious. It has a fresh, lemon taste.  I drizzle it on my salads. I recommend it to anyone who wants a high quality oil with a hint of citrus for salads and fish.

Phyllo Navidad Pecan Bars Recipe with Macadamia Nut Oil

With Christmas only days away, many of us are digging through the cookbooks looking for holiday treats to bake. Here is a recipe your family and guests will love! Don’t be scared off by the ingredients – this bar is made in a 12×18 sheet pan that makes more than enough goodies to keep and give away as holiday treats.

Phyllo Navidad Pecan Bars Recipe

Phyllo Navidad Pecan bars

1 lb. unsalted butter
1 cup Canadian honey
3 cups cups of brown sugar, packed
Zest of one lemon and orange
1/4 whipping cream
1 1/2 lbs. pecans
1/2 lb of mixed nuts (i.e walnuts, slivered almonds, cashews)
10 -12 sheets phyllo
~1/4 cup Macadamia Nut Oil

Combine butter, sugar, honey and zest in a large saucepan and melt on low heat. Stir well and raise heat. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat and add cream. Whisk well. Add nuts.

Line a sheet pan with parchment, including the sides. Start to place each phyllo sheet in the pan, brushing (or spraying if you have a non-aerosol mister) each sheet with the Macadamia Nut Oil. The middle of the sheets should overlap. Add topping, and smooth  out so that it is even.

Bake in a 350°F oven for 40 minutes. Allow to cool completely. Place in fridge until cold and cut into squares or triangles.

From all of us at Olivado Canada, we wish you a safe and merry holiday season!
